STEP 1: We affirm we have the power to take charge of our lives and stop being dependent on substance or other people for our self esteem and security.
Many, many people feel powerless. It’s a really uncomfortable experience to experience.
For some it’s so uncomfortable that they turn to sex, drugs, and other distraction. That’s why this Step is important. This step is about acknowledging the areas in our lives where we do have power.
The question is…are you ready to start looking at where you do have power? Where you do have strengths? We all will experience ups and downs (as we’ll talk about later on). One of the keys to make our lives work is to focus on our strengths.
