Sexual Health Testing Resources

Want or Need to get tested for STI’s (Sexually Transmitted Infections)? Smart and Courageous choice.

A quick note about Anonymous vs Confidential testing:

  • Anonymous means that your name could be: Sparky or George or Lucy or Dino or Fred or Charlie Brown or whatever. Your REAL name isn’t given. You’ll need to give a name that you remember, a phone number that you remember, an address that you remember. Why? Because they’ll ask for this information when you return for your results, and no, they probably WON’T remember you from when you got your test.
  • Confidential means that your real name and information is given to the testing facilities. This information goes onto encrypted files on encrypted computers somewhere that the person giving the test probably has no clue as to where these computers are. Current testing is often confidential so as to help the medical establishment not duplicate records or statistics.

IF YOU ARE A TESTER OR TESTING FACILITY AND ANY OF THE ABOVE (OR BELOW) INFORMATION IS INACCURATE, PLEASE EMAIL ME @ jim@jimmichael.com SO THAT I MAY UPDATE, KEEP MY INFORMATION TO THE PUBLIC CURRENT AND HELPFUL! (Thanks).

NOTE: These places are going to ask very intrusive and very personal questions, so be mentally prepared. These questions may be: Do you have sex with women? Do you have sex with men? Do you have sex with both men and women? If with men, are you the receptive or insertive partner? Do you perform oral on your partner? Do you receive oral from your partner?

(See? I told you they’d be intrusive questions!) They ask these questions for FUNDING purposes.

Here are some locations for either Anonymous or Confidential testing facilities.

  • Los Angeles Gay and Lesbian Center is a great place to get tested, especially for straight or bisexual individuals concerned with privacy. Here’s why: Your spouse, lover, friends, etc., who are all straight, they’re not going to think about this place. Think about it.
  • LA County facilities are throughout the county. Click on the link that says “Los Angeles County STD Clinic and Schedules*” This opens a PDF window of places, days and times for testing.
